Shoemaker-Fittz Mine

The Shoemaker-Fittz mines were discovered in 1888 and worked for several years yielding several thousand tons of ore. It consisted of two shafts and a tunnel used for drainage. Today not much remains of this mine. Deep pits which mark the shafts and Cement footings for the surface equipment are all that is left.
