Laurel Hill/Roomy Mine
The Roomy Mine is
located in Ringwood NJ. The mine is on NJ DEP property and can be accessed
right from the road. During my trip here a bunch of boy scouts walked in on me
in the mine, I spooked em pretty good. It was quite funny as I heard the sound
of children laughing when deep inside the mine and thought, where is this
coming from!
The roomy mine was
opened between 1840's and 1857 and last worked around 1890. Not much is known
of this mine, no records exist. Today it is known as the roomy mine.
