ABM Logo Ford Mine

The Ford Mine was opened a long time ago, beginning in 1855.

The mine was well worked, yielding over 20k tons in one year, this being fairly high for a mine back in the 1880's when work was done with hammer and braun.

The mine lasted almost until the 1900's, when the price of ore became too low to mine profitably.

From what we could gather, the mine was worked to a depth of close to 400 feet. Today, it appears as a lake alongside Weldon road in Jefferson Twp, NJ.
