Dodge Mine
The Dodge Mine was an
old mine in the late 1800's being opened during the latter part of the 1860's.
The main shaft going down over 165 feet.
During our field
research, we observed numerous shafts which had platforms for a mechanical hoist
or water pump. The shafts are all now full of water, especially at the time
of year we visited the water table was high. We also found a stuck drill bit
in an old rock, a reminder of the hard work that occurred here in another age
and time.
